Dean advises clients on business formations and wind-ups, establishing and expanding business operations across Canada, partnership and joint venture arrangements, shareholder matters, corporate governance and on-going commercial transactions.

Dean has a particular focus in the mid-market space representing purchasers complete strategic acquisitions as well as representing vendors on the sale side. He also regularly advises owner-managers on monetizing their holdings through divestitures, reorganizations, family transfers and employee share offerings. Dean’s corporate finance work involves advising borrowers and private lenders in secured transactions and advising clients on private placement capital raises. Dean is also relied upon by his clients for implementing employee share ownership plans for employers and providing independent legal advice to employee participants.

Dean has particular expertise representing clients in the professional services, insurance services & distribution, manufacturing, retail, hospitality, private equity and real estate & development sectors.

As a senior corporate lawyer with the firm, Dean is regularly a mentor to students and young lawyers and also oversees the firm’s corporate services department.
