Peter is a partner at Dale & Lessmann LLP. His practice focuses on tax law and provides advice on income tax, GST / HST and other taxes (including land transfer tax). He is a Certified Specialist in Tax Law with the Law Society of Ontario .

Peter is qualified as a CPA CA and Lawyer and has been practicing as a Tax Lawyer / Accountant for over 20 years. Prior to pursuing his legal studies, Peter worked as a senior tax auditor at the CRA, where he audited companies with sales of up to $ 1 billion. His experience provides special insight and diverse skills to assist clients with tax planning and representation.

Peter has assisted clients in a wide range of tax planning assignments involving national and international structures, cross-border transactions as well as a variety of corporate transactions including mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations and dissolutions. His experience includes tax planning for: (a) clients forming partnerships, trusts and other business / investment structures; b) non-residents who establish Canadian business activities; c) clients who transfer foreign pensions to Canadian registered plans; d) employers develop equitable compensation plans; and (e) clients who immigrate (or emigrate) from Canada. Peter also has extensive experience representing and advising clients in tax litigation. Drawing on his experience as a CRA auditor, CPA CA and lawyer, Peter has achieved significant tax savings for clients in many cases at different levels of the tax administration process, from audits to the CRA on appeals to the Tax Court. He has also assisted clients with voluntary disclosures, judicial reviews and other advocacy matters. He has experience in a variety of files including administrator liability, foreign reporting penalties and TFSA / RRSP penalties, as well as recent CRA audit activities in the areas of

Peter has intervened and moderated tax conferences and has written numerous articles for various tax publications. He has been actively involved in the executive committee of various tax organizations, including:
• Toronto Center Tax Services Office (TSO) CRA and Tax Professionals Group-a group of tax professionals and senior CRA officials who meet periodically to discuss tax administration matters (October 2007 to present)
• Planning Committee of the Canadian Tax Foundation-Ontario Tax Conference (2014 to 2017)
• Executive Committee of the Taxation Section of the ABO (2007 to 2012), and
• President, York District CA Association (2006 to 2013).
